Good point Roland, different people measure success differently. For some, money or even any sort of material gains doesn't really even factor into their success. For example, the volunteers helping out at Haiti consider putting people back on their feet as success.

My job doesn't pay enough but it's rewarding personally. I have always felt it's important that success not always be measured in terms of money. You see these stressed out corporate people that earn a lot but they rarely get time to enjoy it.

Glad I found you here Shane. Well I didn’t actually find you, you left a comment on my blog and that is much appreciated. When defining my goals (for the blog) that I will eventually get posted I won’t be including money as the root of it’s success. I’ve made six figure incomes and don’t ever remember thinking for very long that it made me successful. Oh sure I was happy for a short time, but in the long run it didn’t define me as who I was and dam sure didn’t make me feel happy as in successful. Happiness and success is an inside job IMO. Great blog that just got bookmarked.

A very interesting read. Success is something that is achieved when a goal is met. It does not have to be money. Success should be about happiness and although money can bring freedom from some worries it can also create plenty.

You have to give to be happy. If you get paid for that fine! If you get wealthy that's fine! However money can go much quicker than it arrived and he that puts his trust in the illusion that it creates may well be disappointed.
