  1. Moa Bergström – Our Dapper Days

Whilst attending the latest Starfury G2 Glee Convention I met a talented young Swedish singer/songwriter who was one of the winners from the events talent competition. I was able to take the opportunity to speak to Moa about her past experiences with music and her future goals of being a part of the music industry.

Hi, my name is Moa and I will be 20 in October. I have been playing music since I was 11 years old.  I listened to Green Day and became a huge, huge fan.  I decided that I wanted to play like that so I picked up a guitar and decided to learn. When I started upper secondary school (as it is called in Sweden) we were able to choose the program, I went to music school and chose a guitar as my main instrument. When I was in my third year we were allowed to choose another instrument so I chose singing and started singing lessons.  I joined the school musicals and that’s when I decided that singing was the best thing ever which was good because where I had the guitar in the background, I could do my own stuff.

Did you have the main part in the musical?

Yes I did and that was a chance to develop my singing which I did not think I could do at first but my teachers decided I could. I have always been in bands since I was 15 years old until last year when the singer moved to America. So I used my acoustic and started playing song covers and last January I got into Glee and discovered Darren (Criss) and thought he was an amazing performer when he did Teenage Dream so I checked him out and found out about his musical about Harry Potter (AVPM), which I loved. I have never been into YouTube before and downloaded his EP,I loved the way he does his arrangements, he always makes the songs his own and that inspired me to write my own arrangements of covers and write my own songs, I am having a hard time writing alone as I am used to being with other performers.

What is the hardest part of getting your music heard? (more…)

  2. Starfury’s G2 – My experiences

I recently attended a Starfury event, G2. For those of you that have never attended an event hosted by Starfury, you really should, it was an amazing weekend.

Starfury host many events based on famous television shows such as The Vampire Diaries, Doctor Who, The Game of Thrones and of course, the one I attended, Glee.

These conventions are three day events spanning from the Friday till the Sunday and include guests from the appropriate shows. The event organiser must be a magician (Fez included), he worked wonders and his team were amazing, they were so friendly and helpful it was unbelievable.

I have had many people asking me to write about my experiences at the event, so here goes!

Be warned! This may take some time to read, I will try not to babble too much!

After arriving at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham, signing in and unpacking my bag I wondered downstairs to see who else was about. Bear in mind that I went alone (shudder!) and did not know any other attendees (pat on the back here, brave old me). The place was full of cheerleaders and Warblers sitting in their groups awaiting the start of the first item on our agenda, the meet and greet with the stars. The atmosphere was already electric with anticipation!  (more…)
